Sculpture
It’s summer, and I’ve had nothing to do the past couple weeks. I leave to study abroad in Germany on Wednesday (I’m pretty darn excited).
I’ve totally cleaned my room, sold some old junk on ebay, and then I was missing architecture. And sometimes, sketching and drawing visions just don’t cut my design thirst. I then decided to try working with clay. Now, I will just tell you that I am no good at anything ceramics and whatnot, so this was an interesting (and somewhat disappointing) project.
I thought I would show you guys two of the sculptures I made. I wanted to play with sculpturizing architecture.
Let me know your opinions on them (I know my craftsmanship is horrible). And when the insturctions say form them on newspaper, I guess they mean it, because I used paperbags and thats where those black stripes came from.
This was really fun and was an interesting way to let my imagination out. Ah, feels so good.

looks as if you’ve tapped into a valuable inner resource…I like! But it’s way too soon to be sidetracked by craftsmanship concerns. Hope you stay with the experimentation. Your inner architect needs an outlet..she needs to come out and play some of the time, maybe a lot.
We have one month before summer vacation
A whole month of studying…
At least you’re learning something! I’m bored out of my mind!
I think the stripes add a new dimension to the study, which is texture (much more difficult to photograph without tone). If you like sculptural architecture, I would suggest Peter Zumthor might give you some inspiration. Looks great! Happy sculpting!
Thanks for the tip, I will! and yes, it does add a more interesting and dynamic interest to the sculpture!
