Bohlin Cywinski Jackson – Ridge House
This house is beautiful with its relationship with nature. It uses the simple sustainable concept of cantilevering the South roof so the summer sun can’t enter and the winter sun can and heats the stone core. Glass walls and roof details always unite the user with nature and the tall chimneys with a side made of glass highlights the transparency of the built environment with the natural environment. I’m guessing that those chimneys are also used to let the rising hot air out.

BCJ knows how to do it…great source of inspiration.
Fabulous post – thank you~
Nice looking project. It seems like that big roof would be prime for some PVs. Like you, I’d like to think that those towers are natural stacks, but at the same time the house looks a little big (3-car garage and all) to really be considered “sustainable”.
Drawing. the motive force of architecture,.
